Dubai’s podcasting scene received a major boost at the fifth edition of Dubai PodFest with the launch of the Droob Areeka podcast and the unveiling of Insaat, a new digital platform designed to support Arab audio content creators.
The event drew a distinguished mix of regional and international media professionals and content creators.
Droob Areeka, produced by Ghmza Entertainment, revives the popular Areeka podcast in a fresh comedy-travel format. Hosted by Bibi Al-Abdulmohsen and Talal Sam and directed by Abdullah AlThamer, the show follows the Areeka team on a 30-day road trip across the six GCC states. The first season will feature 12 episodes, with two episodes per country, and filming is set to begin in October. AlThamer described the launch as a milestone for Gulf podcasting, highlighting the unique appeal of comedy-travel content in the region.
The event also introduced Insaat, the first Arab digital platform dedicated to empowering podcasters and promoting sustainable growth in the audio industry. Insaat provides technical tools, production and marketing support, and professional training, while enabling collaboration between creators and brands. Luca Allam, co-founder of Insaat, emphasized the platform’s role in helping podcasters monetise content and deliver locally relevant material to engaged audiences.
Hikmat Wehbi, Insaat co-founder, highlighted podcasts as spaces for unrestricted storytelling, giving Arab creators a platform to share their voices and foster innovation.
Mahfoudha Saleh, Manager of Dubai PodFest, noted the event’s role in strengthening Dubai’s position as a digital media hub while supporting emerging projects and Arab creators in reaching regional and global audiences.
With Droob Areeka and Insaat, Dubai PodFest reaffirms its position as the region’s leading podcasting platform, offering a launchpad for creativity, cultural exploration, and audience engagement in the Arab podcasting landscape.
