The Dubai Police General Command announced the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) systems into 29 administrative operations across various departments.
This initiative, in line with directives from His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, optimizes efficiency for employees and customers, enhances Dubai's security framework, and supports the annual 'Dubai Universal Blueprint for Artificial Intelligence'. This blueprint aims to boost economic competitiveness, resilience, quality of life, and future readiness through various initiatives and programs.
Major General Khalid Nasser Alrazooqi, Director of the General Department of Artificial Intelligence at Dubai Police, emphasised the continuous efforts to enhance police operations through AI adoption.
"This initiative strengthens the community's security and safety, prevents crime, and elevates customer satisfaction, ultimately reinforcing trust in the police force and boosting the emirate's security index,"
he said.
Accident Smart Planning and Vehicle History Records
Alrazooqi outlined Dubai Police's AI-driven 'Smart Planning for Minor Traffic Accidents', streamlining accident analysis and report generation. This reduces obtaining a "Minor Accident" report from seven steps to four. AI also integrates into the "Vehicle History Record," offering potential buyers easy access to accident history and ensuring transparency in the vehicle's mechanical condition pre-purchase.
Officer 'Amna' and the Smart App
Dubai Police utilizes "Amna," an AI virtual officer, fluent in Arabic and English, available on their app. In 2023, 1st Lieutenant Amna handled 20,000 public inquiries. The updated smart app, on iOS, Android, and Huawei, integrates AI, offering 70 services in seven languages. Downloaded 7.9 million times, it enhances user experience with advanced programming and AI technologies.
Blockchain Technology for Lost Passport Certificates
Dubai Police, in collaboration with partners, also uses AI and blockchain technology for "lost passport certificate" transactions. Since 2021, 66,413 certificates have been issued using this secure and encrypted service, eliminating the need for customers to visit service centres and saving them time and effort.
Smart Police Station (SPS)
The Smart Police Station (SPS) is another significant implementation of AI, offering various services to the public.
Since the beginning of 2024, the SPS has received 127,515 visitors and processed 36,376 transactions. Customers can benefit from 46 services offered through 25 SPSs located conveniently across Dubai.
