Dubai Police Unveil AI-Powered Radar Violations to Enhance Road Safety

Dubai Police have unveiled the types of traffic violations detected by their advanced AI-powered radar systems, aiming to bolster road safety and curb traffic accidents.

The announcement was made during a press conference at the Research and Development Centre at Dubai Police Headquarters, attended by senior officials and journalists.

Brigadier Issam Ibrahim Al Awar, Acting Deputy Director of the General Department of Traffic, alongside Brigadier Engineer Mohammad Ali Karam, Director of Traffic Technologies, highlighted how AI technology enhances the accuracy of traffic monitoring systems. The violations tracked include speeding, improper lane usage, and distracted driving, with associated fines, vehicle impoundment periods, and black points.

Among the top infractions:

  • Exceeding the speed limit by more than 80 km/h incurs a fine of AED 3,000, a 60-day vehicle impoundment, and 23 black points.
  • Running a red light results in a fine of AED 1,000, a 30-day impoundment, and 12 black points.
  • Distracted driving, such as using a mobile phone, carries an AED 800 fine and 4 black points.
  • Not wearing a seatbelt incurs an AED 400 fine and 4 black points.
  • Heavy vehicles face stricter penalties, with fines reaching AED 1,500 and 12 black points for failing to comply with mandatory lane regulations.
  • Driving against traffic flow results in an AED 600 fine, a 7-day impoundment, and 4 black points.

Dubai Police's initiative underscores their commitment to leveraging technology to promote road safety and reduce accidents, reinforcing the emirate's vision of becoming a smart, secure city.
