Dubai Police is advancing a comprehensive push to enhance road safety through new strategies, expanded technologies, and stronger partnerships aimed at reducing accidents across the emirate.

During an annual inspection visit to the General Department of Traffic, Lieutenant General Abdulla Khalifa Al Marri reviewed the latest updates to three key strategies, including a joint plan with the Roads and Transport Authority and two initiatives focused on accident reduction and safer road environments. Senior police officials accompanied him as the department presented recent progress.

The Traffic Department highlighted major achievements, including joining the International Organisation for the Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction, securing IDEALEST accreditation, and certifying four ACTAR experts. Officials also showcased innovations such as a smart operations room and the registration of twenty intellectual works related to road safety.

Several new projects are underway, including a unified smart system for managing violations, a digital fines platform, the Wasl project linking traffic systems with local partners, and a driver behaviour monitoring system. Another initiative, Area 56, will provide a fully digital environment to support traffic operations.

The department noted continued efforts to increase patrols and raise awareness as Dubai’s population reached an estimated 8.55 million in 2024. Last year, 157 people died in traffic accidents, with causes linked to sudden swerving, unsafe distances, negligence, stopping in active lanes, and red-light violations.

Awareness campaigns reached more than twenty million people, while social media content generated over one point eight billion views. Dubai Police also activated electronic integration with GCC traffic systems and intensified outreach to delivery riders, recording a 19.4 percent rise in violations.

Al Marri praised the department’s accomplishments and reaffirmed Dubai Police’s commitment to smart planning, advanced technologies, and collaborative efforts to achieve its long-term vision for safer roads.
