Dubai Ports Authority (DPA), part of the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, has unveiled “Port Eye,” an advanced aerial monitoring system that uses autonomous drones and artificial intelligence to enhance safety, efficiency, and sustainability across Dubai’s maritime zones.

Equipped with 4K thermal imaging cameras and environmental sensors, the drones operate autonomously within a centralized smart control network. The system delivers real-time data and visual analytics, reducing the need for manual inspections in high-risk areas while supporting the UAE’s Green Agenda 2030 and Net Zero 2050 goals.

Captain Ibrahim Al Blooshi, Executive Director of the DPA, described Port Eye as a major step in building a smart and sustainable port ecosystem driven by data and AI insights. He noted that inspection times have been cut from four hours to just fifty minutes, improving operational efficiency and decision-making speed.

The system’s intelligent sensors can detect ship emissions, track marine pollution, and ensure compliance with international environmental standards. It integrates a 3D interactive dashboard connected to DPA’s command and control center, enabling instant responses and predictive maintenance.

According to early results, Port Eye has boosted inspection efficiency by more than 60 percent compared to manual methods. The project positions Dubai as a global leader in smart port innovation, combining technology and sustainability to redefine modern maritime operations.
