Dubai is accelerating its push to become a world-class industrial powerhouse, with the Dubai Economic Development Corporation (DEDC) outlining an ambitious strategy to boost the sector's contribution to the emirate's economy.

Mohamed Sharaf, DEDC's Chief Operating Officer for Investment Attraction, said the industrial sector is expected to play a growing role in Dubai's economic landscape as the emirate shifts toward a production-based model — a core pillar of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which targets doubling the size of the economy within the next decade.

Speaking on the sidelines of Make it in the Emirates 2026, where DEDC is participating under the Department of Economy and Tourism's pavilion, Sharaf highlighted the exhibition as a key platform for showcasing Emirati products and connecting manufacturers with regional and global markets.

The corporation's presence at the event brings together a broad coalition of strategic partners, including government entities, free zones, and industrial companies, creating new pathways for manufacturers and producers to scale operations and access international markets from Dubai.

On the investment front, DEDC is focused on attracting high value-added industries, offering incentives for both local and international manufacturers alongside export support programmes designed to help companies expand beyond UAE borders.

Among the initiatives Sharaf spotlighted is the Elite Buyers programme, which brings major international buyers to explore locally made products, as well as In-Country Value programmes that open up government supply chain opportunities for UAE-based companies.

He pointed to Dubai's advanced port infrastructure, wide-ranging trade agreements, and sustainability efforts — including the expansion of solar energy — as key competitive advantages that reduce operational costs and strengthen the emirate's appeal as an industrial investment destination.
