Dubai Press Club today announced the launch of ‘Ibda’a – The Arab Youth Media Award’.
The award revives a student media award named Ibda’a Media Student Awards originally introduced by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, in 2001 to identify, recognise and nurture young media talent.
His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum lauded Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's confidence in youth, emphasizing their pivotal role in national progress. Highlighting Sheikh Mohammed's leadership and international initiatives, he announced a media award aimed at nurturing excellence among Arab students, elevating the region's media landscape.
HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed aims to empower young Arabs in media, aligning with Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's vision. They prioritize partnerships and comprehensive strategies, including academic preparation and collaborations with major media institutions, to harness youth energy and creativity for a brighter future.
Mona Al Marri, Vice Chairperson of the Dubai Media Council, announced the Ibda’a Award, aligning with Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's vision to empower youth in media. Dubai Press Club, under her leadership, has long supported youth development, now revitalizing with initiatives like the Arab Youth Media Forum.
Ibda’a – The Arab Youth Media Award will serve as a platform for showcasing talent and excellence among Arab media students from universities and media schools in the region and across the world. Featuring seven categories including photography, podcasting, short video, e-sports, animation, graphics, and journalism, the award aims to identify and nurture emerging media talent, with a focus on new media platforms that have emerged with rapid technological advancements.
Dr. Maitha bint Essa Buhumaid, Director of DPC, said that more details about the award, including its categories, submission requirements, evaluation criteria and prizes will be announced in the next few weeks.
