The award revives a student media award named Ibda’a Media Student Awards originally introduced by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, in 2001 to identify, recognise and nurture young media talent.

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum lauded Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's confidence in youth, emphasizing their pivotal role in national progress. Highlighting Sheikh Mohammed's leadership and international initiatives, he announced a media award aimed at nurturing excellence among Arab students, elevating the region's media landscape.

HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed aims to empower young Arabs in media, aligning with Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's vision. They prioritize partnerships and comprehensive strategies, including academic preparation and collaborations with major media institutions, to harness youth energy and creativity for a brighter future.
