Dubai Press Club Revives ‘Ibda’a – Arab Youth Media Award’ with Revamped Ninth Edition
Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, and the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, the Dubai Press Club (DPC) has launched submissions for the ninth edition of the ‘Ibda’a – Arab Youth Media Award.’
Reviving the legacy of the Ibda’a Media Student Awards, initiated in 2001, the revamped award seeks to identify and nurture Arab youth media talent. Mona Al Marri, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council, highlighted the initiative’s commitment to shaping the future of Arab media by fostering young talent.
This year’s award includes six categories: Podcasting, E-Games, Multimedia, Photography, Short Video, and News Reports. Submissions, open to media students across the Arab world, must be accompanied by an official academic verification letter. Participants can apply individually or in groups via the DPC website.
Amna Khalil, a member of the award’s Organising Committee, emphasized its role in strengthening Arab media and preparing it for future challenges. Winners will be honored at the Arab Youth Media Forum, with each category offering a $5,000 cash prize.
A jury of media experts will evaluate entries based on originality, adherence to the award’s criteria, and intellectual property compliance. This initiative underscores Dubai’s vision of fostering innovation and cementing its position as a global media hub.
Submissions are now open on their website.
