Dubai has once more showcased its appeal as an international maritime hub in the 2024 Leading Maritime Cities (LMC) report, securing the top spot in the Arab world and ranking 11th globally, moving up two places compared to the previous report in 2022.

Dubai's maritime excellence gained international recognition in a recent report by DNV and Menon Economics. The Leading Maritime Capitals index for 2024 highlights Dubai's ascent, crediting it to five key factors including shipping centers, maritime technology, ports and logistics, attractiveness and competitiveness, and financial and legal aspects. The report also commends Dubai's focus on green technology in the maritime sector.

Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman of PCFC, attributes this achievement to DMA's efforts within PCFC, emphasizing the visionary leadership of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and the continual support from Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

Strategic plans and initiatives

Bin Sulayem highlighted Dubai Maritime Authority's role in driving Dubai's progress through strategic plans and initiatives aimed at enhancing competitiveness and sustainable growth in the maritime sector. He commended PCFC's specialized teams for their integral role in this accomplishment, reinforcing Dubai's commitment to global excellence in maritime services. He also appreciated partners' efforts in strengthening strategic partnerships and fostering collaboration with leading global maritime hubs.

Dr. Sheikh Saeed bin Ahmed bin Khalifa Al-Maktoum, Executive Director of DMA, reiterated the Authority's commitment to leveraging research, development, and innovation to enhance integrated logistics programs while adhering to safety standards, environmental practices, and regulations. He emphasized Dubai's global leadership in security, technology, finance, and green technology, reflecting the effectiveness of DMA's development strategy.
In addition to the LMC ranking, Singapore has retained its title as the leading maritime city in the world for 2024, while Dubai led the Arab maritime capitals and ranked 11th globally, showcasing initiatives within its strategic plans to advance its global position and excel in this vital sector.
