The Dubai Event Security Committee has announced the completion of security preparations for the Women's T20 World Cup 2024 (WT20WC), set to commence tomorrow in the UAE and run until October 20.
The tournament will feature matches in Dubai and Sharjah, with the Sharjah Cricket Stadium hosting the opening ceremony and the closing ceremony taking place at the Dubai International Stadium. This marks a historic moment as the event is held for the first time in the region.
Major General Abdullah Ali Al Ghaithi, Assistant Commandant for Operations Affairs and Head of the Dubai Event Security Committee, highlighted the UAE's position as a leading destination for international events, attributing this success to visionary leadership, strategic planning, and substantial investments in infrastructure and sports facilities.
"The UAE offers everything necessary to ensure a unique experience for organizing, participating in, and attending events, enhancing its appeal as a prime destination for sports and athletes,"
Maj. Gen. Al Ghaithi stated. He emphasized that the UAE's exceptional infrastructure and stunning attractions make it the perfect host for global sporting events.
The committee has implemented a comprehensive security strategy to guarantee the safety of fans and players, with security patrols ensuring easy access to venues. The Women's T20 World Cup 2024 will span 18 days and feature 23 matches. Semifinals are scheduled for October 17 in Dubai and October 18 in Sharjah, with the final set for October 20 in Dubai. Participating teams include six-time champions Australia, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, Sri Lanka in Group A, and Bangladesh, England, South Africa, the West Indies, and Scotland in Group B.
