Dubai Reaffirms Commitment to Sports Growth as Nad Al Sheba Tournament Kicks Off

Dubai has reaffirmed its dedication to developing the sports sector as the 13th Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament opened, drawing more than 11,000 athletes for the largest edition to date.

H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE Olympic Committee and Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, highlighted the city’s focus on expanding sports infrastructure and engagement across all communities.

The tournament, organised by the Dubai Sports Council under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, will run from 18 February to 7 March 2026 at the Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex. Competitions span 11 sports, including jiu-jitsu, fencing, cycling, padel, badminton, volleyball, 3x3 basketball, wheelchair basketball, road running, tug-of-war, and obstacle challenges.

H.H. Sheikh Mansoor emphasised the leadership’s support for attracting diverse sporting events and hosting international competitions, reflecting Dubai’s vision for sustainable development. He also noted the tournament’s significance to the Nad Al Sheba area, its rich heritage, and its alignment with the Holy Month of Ramadan, which adds to the event’s unique atmosphere.

Highlights include the International Padel Federation Silver Cup from 18 to 22 February, followed by the Nad Al Sheba International Padel Championship from 23 to 27 February and junior ranking competitions from 28 February to 6 March. The fencing championship on 19–20 February, the 74-km cycling race on 21–22 February, and the badminton championship on 22–23 February will feature both local and international participants.

Additional events such as the Jiu-Jitsu championship, obstacle challenge, road running races, 3x3 basketball, tug-of-war, wheelchair basketball, and volleyball will run throughout the tournament, concluding with the volleyball final on 7 March.

The 13th edition of the Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament reflects Dubai’s growing reputation as a hub for world-class sporting events and its commitment to fostering a vibrant, inclusive sports culture.
