Dubai is seeing a surge in demand for electricity services as commercial requests submitted to the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) rise sharply, reflecting the city’s rapid growth and robust infrastructure.
HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, attributed the increase to the visionary leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, noting that Dubai’s infrastructure has become a global model of efficiency, reliability, and sustainability.
Commercial electricity connection requests through DEWA’s Al Namoos service rose 20.4% year-on-year during the first half of 2025, reaching 4,809 applications. The city now counts 2,198 accredited consultants and contractors registered with DEWA.
Rashid Bin Humaidan, Executive Vice President of Distribution Power at DEWA, highlighted that Al Namoos streamlines connections for projects up to 150 kilowatts, allowing requests to be submitted in two steps and completed within five days.
Al Tayer emphasized that DEWA’s innovative digital services support Dubai’s rapid urban expansion, population growth, and economic development, enabling faster project delivery while maintaining high standards of service and sustainability.
