Residents of Dubai have seized a unique opportunity to influence the design of an upcoming park in Nad Al Hamar 3, underscoring a groundbreaking initiative aimed at integrating community input into urban planning.

At a recent workshop facilitated by the Dubai Urban Design Platform, UAE citizens and residents contributed diverse ideas to enhance the park's features, ranging from interactive play areas to sustainable water management systems.

High school student Noora Abdullah Ashoor expressed enthusiasm about her participation, highlighting the workshop's focus on engaging all senses of children through innovative play elements.

"We discussed creating an interactive play area with sensory-rich experiences like water fountains and music integrated into the flooring,"

said Noora, emphasizing the park's potential to foster creativity and engagement among young visitors.

The workshop, part of Dubai's broader initiative to leverage artificial intelligence in urban planning, was initiated following directives from Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum during an AI retreat in June. Attendees, including over 20 individuals from diverse age groups, were divided into groups to brainstorm and discuss features such as solar panels, recreational facilities, and sustainable landscaping practices.

Ahmed Al Zarouni, Director of Dubai Municipality's Department of Public Parks and Recreational Facilities, praised the community's futuristic ideas and expressed eagerness to incorporate them into future park projects across the city.

"This pilot project at Nad Al Sheba 3 showcases our commitment to integrating innovative and sustainable practices in urban development,"

he remarked.

Organized by the Mohammed Bin Rashid Centre for Government Innovation in collaboration with the Supreme Committee for Urban Planning, Dubai Municipality, and Furjan Dubai, the workshop also served as an introduction to the capabilities of the Dubai Urban Design Platform. Participants explored its potential applications in designing public spaces and shaping the city's future landscapes, underscoring Dubai's ongoing efforts to empower residents in urban development processes.

The workshop concluded with a vision of transforming urban spaces into vibrant, sustainable environments, reflecting Dubai's commitment to inclusive and forward-thinking urban planning strategies. As Dubai continues to evolve as a global hub for innovation, initiatives like these demonstrate the city's proactive approach to engaging its residents to co-create their urban surroundings.
