Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has initiated the trial operation of smart inspection vehicles designed to monitor rail right-of-way areas for the Dubai Metro and Tram networks.
These vehicles, equipped with advanced intelligence systems and cameras, can detect violations, restricted activities, and damage within these zones. The initiative, launched in coordination with the Smart Services Department, aims to streamline daily inspection work, enhance safety, and improve the efficiency of rail services.
Abdulrahman Al Janahi, Director of Rail Right of Way at RTA’s Rail Agency, emphasized that this technology will enhance inspection efficiency and ensure the reliability of the rail infrastructure. The smart inspection vehicle utilizes artificial intelligence to keep pace with rail network advancements, providing comprehensive coverage, timely reporting, and reduced human errors in the inspection process.
The project aims to double the speed of preparing inspection reports and ensure accurate decision-making by providing reliable outputs. It is part of RTA's broader commitment to leveraging smart solutions to enhance operational efficiency and infrastructure safety. The trial marks a significant milestone in RTA's efforts to adopt cutting-edge technologies, supporting sustainable and efficient public transportation systems in Dubai.
