Dubai RTA Raises Minimum Nol Card Top-Up to Dh50 at Metro Stations

Starting August 17, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has increased the minimum top-up amount for Nol cards at Metro station ticket offices to Dh50, up from the previous Dh20. This change, announced by the RTA on their X account, applies only to in-person top-ups at Metro stations and does not affect online top-ups.

The RTA had previously raised the minimum top-up from Dh5 to Dh20 in January 2024, and this latest adjustment aims to streamline the payment process for frequent commuters.

Commuters are reminded that they need to maintain a minimum balance of Dh15 on their Nol card to cover a round trip on the Metro transit network. The Nol card, a prepaid smart card, is widely used to pay for public transport across Dubai, including the Metro, buses, trams, and waterbuses. It can also be used for taxi fares, parking, entrance to Dubai public parks, the Etihad Museum, and payments at over 2,000 shops, restaurants, and stores across the city.
