Dubai will host the 12th edition of the World Green Economy Summit (WGES) on October 21 and 22 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, bringing global sustainability leaders together to showcase practical, scalable green economy solutions rather than theoretical climate goals.
Held under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the summit is organised by the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, DEWA and the World Green Economy Organisation. This year's theme, "From Success to Scale: Showcasing the Green Economy," reflects a shift toward proven models rather than aspirational commitments.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Chairman of the World Green Economy Organisation, said the summit marks a turning point in global sustainability dialogue, moving discussions from why climate action matters to how existing solutions can scale faster.
The programme centres on four pillars: Energy Technology and Infrastructure, Business Strategy and Transition, Water and Food Security, and Finance. These will be examined alongside three cross-cutting themes covering artificial intelligence, governance and systemic transformation.
Energy sessions will address rising demand driven by electrification and AI data centres, along with clean power deployment and storage solutions. The business track will explore how organisations are embedding green growth as the sector surpasses five trillion dollars in annual value. Water and food security discussions will focus on turning climate vulnerabilities into strategic resilience.
Finance remains central, with global climate investment needs estimated at 6.3 trillion dollars annually through 2030, far above current levels of around 2.3 trillion dollars. Sessions will examine blended finance and green bonds as tools to close this gap.
The summit will also address the upcoming Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism and the expanding circular economy market, projected to reach 888 billion dollars by 2030.
WGES typically draws more than 3,300 participants from over 30 countries, alongside 80 international speakers and 300 media representatives.
