Dubai South, the largest urban development focused on aviation and logistics, has successfully completed the first stage of the UAE's autonomous vehicle trials in partnership with Evocargo.
This milestone was achieved within a designated route in the Dubai South Logistics District.
The trials evaluated the Evocargo N1, an unmanned electric truck, assessing its hardware, software, and reliability for future operations. The tests emphasized safety in mixed traffic environments, ensuring effective interaction with other vehicles and pedestrians. The Evocargo N1 demonstrated its capabilities in object detection, collision avoidance, and emergency stops, with no incidents reported throughout the trials.
Mohsen Ahmad, CEO of the Logistics District - Dubai South, expressed pride in this achievement, highlighting its alignment with the UAE's vision to transform Dubai into a global logistics hub. He noted that autonomous vehicles are crucial for enhancing efficiency and reducing carbon footprints, contributing to a sustainable logistics infrastructure.
Ahmed Al-Ansi, CEO of Evocargo, reiterated the company’s commitment to providing reliable logistics services and attracting investment in the GCC region. The trials are part of a broader initiative that aims to transition 25% of Dubai's transportation to autonomous systems by 2030, potentially generating annual economic revenues of AED 22 billion across multiple sectors.
This collaboration underscores Dubai’s ambition to lead in innovative technology solutions, positioning it as a model for smart, sustainable urban development and paving the way for future advancements in logistics and transportation.
