Dubai Sports Council Celebrates Record-Breaking Season
In a recent meeting chaired by H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council (DSC), the council expressed profound appreciation to H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, for his steadfast support of Dubai's sports sector. The meeting, held at the DSC headquarters, highlighted the remarkable achievements of Dubai clubs during the 2023-2024 season across various sporting disciplines.
Among the standout successes, Sheikh Mansoor congratulated Al Wasl Club for their exceptional performance, securing dual championships in both the His Highness the President’s Cup and the ADNOC Professional Football League.
"The performance of Dubai clubs this season has been a source of immense pride,"
stated Sheikh Mansoor, underscoring the spirited competition and notable achievements seen domestically and aiming for further success at the continental level.
The meeting also recognized Shabab Al Ahli’s triumphs in multiple sports, including victories in the Emirates Super Cup and UAE-Qatar Super Shield, alongside their runner-up finish in the ADNOC Professional League. Additionally, Al Nasr demonstrated commendable prowess in various competitions, notably reaching the final of the His Highness the President’s Cup.
Acknowledging the critical role of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed's leadership, Sheikh Mansoor emphasized the substantial impact of his directives and unwavering support, including the recent construction of state-of-the-art stadiums for Shabab Al Ahli and Al Wasl clubs. These facilities, characterized as architectural marvels, symbolize Dubai’s commitment to international sports standards and urban development.
In addition to reviewing club performances, the DSC Board of Directors meeting addressed the achievements of the Dubai International Marine Sports Club, spotlighting the annual Al Gaffal Dhow Race as a cornerstone event celebrating Dubai’s maritime heritage.
Looking forward, Sheikh Mansoor directed the initiation of a new economic impact study on sporting events in Dubai, highlighting the sector's significant contributions to the emirate's GDP and employment landscape. The council reaffirmed its commitment to fostering sporting talent through comprehensive developmental programs and initiatives, reinforcing Dubai's status as a global hub for sports excellence.
Attendees at the meeting included Vice Chairman Mattar Al Tayer, Board members Maryam Al Hammadi, Hala Badri, Moza Al Marri, Jamal Al Marri, as well as Secretary-General Saeed Hareb and Assistant Secretary-General Nasser Aman Al Rahma.
