The Dubai Sports Council has kicked off the Dubai Open Football Academies Tournament in partnership with the UAE Football Association and Delta Aid Sport, setting a new benchmark for youth football in the UAE.

This year’s edition is the largest in the tournament’s history, attracting 12,000 players across 558 teams from 117 academies, including 40 girls’ teams.

The event has seen a 9.1% increase in player participation and an 11.6% rise in team entries compared to last year, highlighting its growing influence in nurturing emerging talent. Participants range in age from six to 23, representing academies from across all Emirates.

Organized as a single-round league, the tournament also includes a Super Cup for the top group winners. Matches will take place throughout the sports season at nine venues, including Dubai Sports City, ensuring broad access for players and academies.

The DOFA Tournament aligns with Dubai’s strategic vision to develop young athletes and strengthen the emirate’s position as a leading sports hub. The initiative provides a professional platform for youth to enhance skills, gain competitive experience, and embrace values such as teamwork, fair play, and sporting spirit.

All tournament facilities meet international standards of safety and professionalism, reflecting the Dubai Sports Council’s commitment to high-quality sporting infrastructure. The event underscores Dubai’s ongoing focus on discovering future stars and supporting the growth of football across the UAE.

This year’s record participation cements the tournament’s role as a cornerstone for youth football development, offering players an unparalleled opportunity to showcase talent and prepare for higher levels of competition.
