Over 5,000 participants gathered at Hatta Dam this weekend for Dubai Stand Up Paddle, a two-day outdoor event that blended fitness, adventure, and family fun as part of the Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC).
Set against the dramatic Hajar Mountains, the event marked its third and biggest edition yet, drawing paddlers and kayakers of all ages to embrace the “Find Your Challenge” spirit while working toward their 30x30 fitness goals.
This year’s expanded two-day format turned the event into a full weekend retreat, with many combining their paddle sessions with hiking trails, dining spots, and mountain adventures across Hatta. Families enjoyed a lively entertainment zone featuring a giant inflatable duck, free popcorn, a bouncy castle, and face painting, while F&B vendors kept guests refreshed with ice lollies and drinks.
Both days featured free training sessions for all skill levels, with participants receiving safety briefings and equipment, from paddles to life jackets. The experience wound down each evening with serene sunset yoga sessions on the water, led by professional instructors.
His Excellency Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of Dubai Sports Council, said the overwhelming response confirmed the success of the expanded format, calling it a “unique combination of fitness, nature, and community.”
Ahmed Al Khaja, CEO of Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment, added that the event showed “how fitness becomes transformative when experienced in nature.”
Organised by Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism and Dubai Sports Council, and presented by RTA, the event continues DFC’s mission to make fitness accessible across the city. Upcoming highlights include Dubai Run on 23 November and the inaugural Dubai Yoga on 30 November at Zabeel Park.
