Hatta Dam was alive with excitement yesterday as the Dubai Stand Up Paddle event, presented by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), made a triumphant return, attracting a record 2,330 participants and spectators—more than doubling last year’s inaugural turnout of 1,000. This event has rapidly become a staple of the Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC), promoting a healthy lifestyle amid stunning mountain vistas.

Designed for paddlers of all skill levels, the event featured a variety of activities, including adult and family training sessions led by certified instructors, mass participation challenges, and the new addition of free kayaking sessions. Participants enjoyed a day filled with adventure, culminating in a serene sunset yoga session on the water, providing a peaceful end to an exhilarating day.

Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of the Dubai Sports Council, expressed his excitement about the event's growth, highlighting Dubai's commitment to fostering a culture of health and fitness.

“The record turnout is a testament to our community's vibrant energy and dedication to active lifestyles,”

he said.

Ahmed Al Khaja, CEO of Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), emphasized the event's role in promoting inclusivity and community spirit, saying,

“Dubai Stand Up Paddle unites diverse participants in a day filled with health and happiness.”

New features this year included popular Hatta Kayak sessions and a variety of outdoor activities such as spear throwing and wall climbing. Food trucks provided a culinary feast, while camping options and extended hours for adventure activities ensured that visitors could fully immerse themselves in the Hatta experience. The event was organized by the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism and Dubai Sports Council, showcasing a collaborative effort to enhance Dubai's fitness landscape.
