Dubai reinforced its position as a global leader in sustainable urban development as the emirate signed a series of international agreements at the Asia-Pacific Cities Summit and Mayors’ Forum 2025, witnessed by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai.
The signings, held at the Government of Dubai Pavilion in Expo City Dubai, aim to advance cooperation in building sustainable, human-centred cities through shared innovation and expertise.
Abdulla Mohammed Al Basti, Secretary-General of The Executive Council of Dubai, signed an MoU with Yuriko Koike, Governor of Tokyo, to collaborate on infrastructure, transport, urban resilience, and digital transformation, reinforcing both cities’ commitment to future-ready development.
Another MoU between Al Basti and Councillor Adrian Schrinner, Lord Mayor of Brisbane, focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation in urban governance, tourism, event management, and talent attraction, promoting mutual growth and knowledge exchange.
Running from 27 to 29 October, the Asia-Pacific Cities Summit is one of the world’s largest gatherings of city leaders, connecting government and private sector representatives to shape the future of sustainable cities. The 2023 edition generated over AED 5.6 billion in business opportunities, underlining the summit’s global impact and its role in driving collaborative progress.
