Dubai reaffirmed its position as a global leader in sustainability as H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, inaugurated the 27th edition of the Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) on Monday.

The three-day event, organised by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), runs until October 2 and brings together more than 3,100 companies from 65 countries. It serves as a key platform for showcasing innovations in clean energy, water, environment and sustainability.

Sheikh Ahmed credited the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, for positioning Dubai as a strategic hub for international events that foster innovation and drive investment. He noted that WETEX supports the UAE’s Net Zero by 2050 strategic initiative, as well as the Dubai Clean Energy and Net Zero Carbon Emissions strategies.

“WETEX has become a pivotal event by presenting the best innovative solutions, supporting the UAE’s efforts to balance sustainable growth with conservation of natural resources,”

Sheikh Ahmed said during the opening ceremony.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA and Chairman of WETEX, highlighted the exhibition’s role in facilitating public-private partnerships and international cooperation.

“The platform enables companies to showcase the latest technologies, establish strategic partnerships, and explore investment opportunities, accelerating sustainable development locally and globally,”

he said.

Sheikh Ahmed toured the exhibition, where he was briefed on cutting-edge solutions in renewable energy, artificial intelligence, and digital transformation. He also visited international pavilions from China, Russia, Germany, France and South Korea, along with leading regional and global companies.

WETEX 2025 underscores Dubai’s growing influence in shaping solutions to global climate challenges while attracting investments that advance innovation and sustainability worldwide.
