Dubai will host the fourth edition of the World Congress and Challenge for Self-Driving Transport on 24 September at the Dubai World Trade Centre, under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai.
Held under the theme Redefining Mobility… The Path to Autonomy, the two-day event will spotlight Dubai’s ambition to become a global leader in smart mobility.
The congress will bring together more than 3,000 international participants, 80 speakers, and 50 exhibitors showcasing the latest in autonomous transport technologies. Delegates will include senior officials, researchers, and industry leaders, with keynote addresses from Saeed Al Tayer, CEO of DEWA, and Sol Rashidi, the world’s first Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer.
The event also features the Dubai World Challenge for Self-Driving Transport, which this year focuses on creating a model district where multiple transport modes are seamlessly integrated. Five finalists from around the world, including consortia from Europe, Asia, and the UAE, will present their solutions, with winners set to be honoured on opening day.
Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General of Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), said the congress reflects Dubai’s vision to transform 25% of all journeys into self-driving trips by 2030. He noted that the initiative supports sustainability, enhances safety, and attracts global innovation in future mobility.
Alongside competitions and discussions, visitors will experience self-driving vehicles expected to roll out in Dubai in 2026. The event underscores Dubai’s strategy to build a world-class urban model for autonomous transport and reinforce its position as a hub for innovation in smart mobility.
