Dubai’s taxi sector recorded a 7% increase in trips during the first half of 2025 compared with the same period in 2024, according to the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).

Adel Shakri, Director of Planning and Business Development at the Public Transport Agency, said total trips rose from 55.7 million in H1 2024 to 59.5 million in H1 2025, carrying 103.5 million passengers compared with 97 million last year.

Hala Taxi’s share of total trips grew from 40.3% to 41.3%, reflecting a 2.5% rise. The number of active drivers increased from around 13,000 to nearly 14,000.

Shakri highlighted strong growth in e-hailing, hourly rental services, and Hala Taxi usage, noting that these figures demonstrate Dubai’s economic dynamism and global appeal as a hub for investment and tourism.

Service efficiency also improved, with 74% of Hala Taxi trips in H1 2025 having estimated arrival times under 3.5 minutes, compared with 70% under four minutes in H1 2024.
