Dubai to Host 10th World Green Economy Summit Focused on Green Hydrogen and Clean Energy

The 10th World Green Economy Summit (WGES), set for 2nd and 3rd October 2024, will spotlight green hydrogen's pivotal role in the global shift toward clean energy.

Green hydrogen, hailed as the "fuel of the future," is poised to revolutionize energy production and storage, positioning itself as a cornerstone of the transition to a sustainable global economy.

Held annually under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the event will be organized by the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), and the World Green Economy Organisation (WGEO). This year’s summit will focus on various critical topics, including decarbonization, net-zero goals, clean energy advancements, and climate finance.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy and Chairman of WGEO, emphasized the UAE’s leadership in renewable energy, particularly green hydrogen, as global interest in clean energy investment rises.

"We look forward to advancing green energy at the 10th World Green Economy Summit, laying the groundwork for a just energy transition to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals 2030,"

Al Tayer noted.

A key highlight is DEWA's Green Hydrogen project at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park. Waleed bin Salman, DEWA's Executive Vice President, explained that the project is the first in the Middle East to produce green hydrogen using solar power. It demonstrates Dubai's commitment to innovation and sustainability, supporting the UAE's vision for a green economy.

The summit promises to further accelerate global efforts towards a clean energy future.
