Dubai Police is set to host the fourth edition of INTERPOL's Young Global Police Leaders Programme (YGPLP) from August 26 to 29, 2024.

Under the theme “Policing in the Age of Artificial Intelligence,” this year’s programme will assemble young police leaders from 35 nations to explore the impact of AI on global policing.

His Excellency Lieutenant General Abdulla Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, highlighted Dubai Police’s commitment to future-oriented security strategies.

“Our forward-thinking approach aims to leverage AI advancements to enhance police operations and develop innovative solutions,”

he said. The programme will foster international cooperation and skill development among the next generation of police leaders, equipping them with the latest practices and tools to address modern security challenges.

Major General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Criminal Investigation Affairs at Dubai Police, emphasized the need for evolving responses to emerging crimes such as cybercrime and AI-related offences.

“Empowering younger generations is crucial for effective international collaboration and technological progress in policing,”

he noted.

Brigadier Harib Al Shamsi, Director of the General Department of Criminal Investigation at Dubai Police, underscored the programme’s role in advancing international police cooperation and leadership. The four-day event will feature lectures, guidance sessions, and workshops on AI applications in policing, responsible AI use, and emerging technologies like generative AI and deep fakes.

The YGPLP 2024 will also include educational visits, sports, and networking opportunities, reflecting Dubai’s ongoing commitment to enhancing global police leadership and security. The programme builds on the success of past editions, following the INTERPOL General Assembly session in Dubai in 2018 that inspired its creation.
