Dubai is set to make history at Gamescom 2025 in Cologne, Germany, by hosting the Middle East’s first government pavilion at the world’s largest gaming event from 20–24 August.

The pavilion, under the Dubai Programme for Gaming 2033 (DPG33), will spotlight the city’s growing influence in the global gaming sector.

Represented by the Dubai Future Foundation, Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, and Dubai Multi Commodities Centre, the pavilion will promote Dubai’s talent, infrastructure, and investment opportunities. Launched in 2023 under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, DPG33 aims to boost Dubai’s GDP by $1 billion and create 30,000 jobs in the gaming industry.

Officials emphasised Dubai’s commitment to fostering innovation, building global partnerships, and positioning the city among the world’s top 10 gaming hubs by 2033. The initiative has already attracted more than 60 new companies in the past two years, bringing the total to over 350, with 74% specialising in game development.

Gamescom, held at the Koelnmesse exhibition centre, is expected to draw record attendance in 2025, following last year’s 335,000 visitors from 122 countries. Dubai’s participation marks a strategic step in expanding its creative economy and strengthening its position in the global gaming landscape.
