Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Dubai Police have announced a new restriction on truck movement along Emirates Road, between Al Awir Street and Sharjah, during evening peak hours from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM.
This measure will take effect on January 1, 2025, as part of RTA’s strategy to enhance traffic flow, reduce congestion, and improve road safety across the emirate.
The expanded ban builds on similar measures implemented earlier this year on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road. Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei of Dubai Police emphasized that the restriction aims to minimize truck-related accidents and ease congestion during peak traffic hours. He also highlighted ongoing efforts to raise awareness among truck drivers and transport companies, urging compliance to avoid penalties.
Hussain Al Banna, CEO of RTA’s Traffic and Roads Agency, stated that the decision aligns with Dubai’s broader policy to improve traffic management. Alternative routes and strategically located truck rest areas, covering over 300,000 square meters and accommodating 1,000 vehicles, have been developed to facilitate smooth operations.
Informational campaigns via road signs, media bulletins, and multilingual radio messages will ensure clarity on the new regulations. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to balancing safety, efficiency, and economic activity, encouraging cooperation from all stakeholders.
