Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dubai Municipality to enhance the emirate’s visual identity by integrating artistic experiences into public spaces and residential areas.
This initiative aligns with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, reinforcing Dubai’s position as a global cultural hub and an incubator for creativity.
The MoU reflects a shared commitment to strengthening collaboration, streamlining communication, and exchanging best practices to identify suitable locations for public art installations. The goal is to transform Dubai into an open-air art gallery, making art more accessible to residents and visitors. Under the agreement, Dubai Culture will determine the number of annual art projects, while Dubai Municipality will oversee site selection and coordination with relevant authorities for necessary permits.
Hala Badri, Director General of Dubai Culture, emphasized the initiative’s role in fostering innovation and supporting the creative economy.
“Through our Public Art Strategy, we aim to empower artists, expand their presence, and cultivate artistic appreciation in Dubai. Public spaces will be enriched with distinctive artworks that reflect the city’s unique creative identity.”
Eng. Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Acting Director General of Dubai Municipality, highlighted the significance of integrating art into urban development.
“This agreement is a pivotal step in ensuring Dubai remains a city of creativity and cultural expression. By embedding artistic elements into urban landscapes, we enhance the city's appeal and enrich the experiences of residents and visitors.”
This collaboration underscores Dubai’s vision of sustainable, people-centric urban development, reinforcing its reputation as a vibrant, globally recognized destination for art and culture.
