DMCC, the Dubai-based free zone and government authority on commodities trade, has officially launched the DMCC AI Centre, marking a significant step in advancing artificial intelligence (AI) in the MENA region.
The new innovation platform aims to drive pragmatic AI adoption and develop scalable real-life use cases.
The launch event, attended by over 60 distinguished guests including Khalfan Belhoul, CEO of Dubai Future Foundation, and Dr. Marwan Alzarouni, Chief AI Officer at the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, showcased the centre's extensive offerings.
Khalfan Belhoul highlighted the DMCC AI Centre as a key milestone in Dubai’s quest to become a global leader in AI by 2031, in line with the UAE’s National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence.
Housed within DMCC’s Uptown Tower, the AI Centre spans two floors and integrates with DMCC’s existing technology hubs: the DMCC Crypto Centre and the DMCC Gaming Centre. It features cutting-edge facilities, including advanced co-working spaces, high-tech meeting rooms, and a dedicated AI solution showroom.
DMCC, home to over 50 global AI and robotics firms, is enhancing its ecosystem with new partnerships. Builder.ai will assist DMCC members in developing AI-driven apps, while UAE-based AGCC will facilitate accelerator and market entry programs. Notably, AGCC and DMCC are organizing a competition at Expand North Star in Dubai this October, offering a $100,000 prize pool for AI start-ups focused on sustainability.
Ahmed Bin Sulayem, DMCC Executive Chairman and CEO, emphasized the AI Centre's role in leveraging AI's transformative potential, projecting a $15 trillion impact on the global economy by 2030. He highlighted the centre's capacity to attract new service providers and generate broader benefits for the community.
Sachin Dev Duggal, Founder & Chief Wizard at Builder.ai, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, aiming to deliver impactful AI solutions and drive growth across sectors in Dubai and MENA.
