Dubai has unveiled a monumental ground installation featuring a joint portrait of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum as part of this year’s National Month celebrations.

The artwork, visible from above, celebrates the legacy of the UAE’s Founding Fathers and marks the second edition of the #ZayedAndRashid campaign.

The installation spans 82 metres in diameter and is located at the roundabout opposite Dubai Frame, near the intersection of Sheikh Zayed Road and Zabeel Park. Created from multi-coloured gravel laid with precision over a specialised insulating layer, the artwork is designed for long-term stability while forming a striking visual tribute that can be appreciated from the air.

Badr Anwahi, CEO of Dubai Municipality’s Public Facilities Agency, highlighted the project as a key initiative to enhance Dubai’s visual identity and amplify national messages in public spaces. He said the location was chosen to connect the past with the present, reminding residents and visitors of the UAE’s foundation built on vision, ambition, and determination.

Shaima Al Suwaidi, Director of Brand Dubai, emphasised the campaign’s role in honouring the vision and values of the two leaders, including wisdom, generosity, and national service. She described the installation as both a cultural landmark and an artistic celebration of the nation’s progress.

Amina Taher, member of the campaign’s organising committee, noted that the installation encourages the public to draw inspiration from the Founding Fathers, turning their legacy into a source of positive energy and guiding future generations in building an ambitious future for the UAE.
