In a spectacular conclusion to the 29th edition of the Dubai World Cup, the Meydan Racecourse became the stage for a groundbreaking visual performance that set a new Guinness World Record.

A fleet of 5,983 drones lit up the night sky, creating the world’s largest flying LED screen ever formed by multirotor drones.

Watched by over 60,000 spectators, the 20-minute show delivered a fully immersive experience, blending cutting-edge drone choreography with lasers, lights, and a dramatic fireworks display. The record-breaking performance was not only a feat of technology but a celebration of culture and creativity.

The sky transformed into a living canvas with 3D animations of horses in motion, the iconic Dubai World Cup trophy, and striking portraits of UAE leaders—President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.

According to Guinness World Records,

“Dubai Racing Club broke their own record attempted previously, with a total of 5,983… showcasing the innovation and technology of drones.”

The previous record—also set in Dubai during last year’s closing ceremony—involved 4,000 drones.

This year’s show pushed the boundaries of visual storytelling, with the LED drone screen displaying vivid images and video-like sequences in the sky, rivaling the clarity of conventional screens.

The event concluded with a heartfelt message of gratitude and a teaser for next year’s milestone: “See you next year: 30th anniversary of Dubai World Cup.”
