Dubai’s luxury yacht rental prices are reaching astronomical heights this New Year’s Eve, with some yachts available for up to Dh360,000 for an eight-hour cruise.
The premium “Lamborghini” yacht, which typically costs around Dh15,000 per hour, is expected to nearly triple its usual price, offering a front-row seat to the city’s iconic fireworks and drone shows.
Shani Tareq, operations manager at Elite Rentals, confirmed that despite the steep price increases, demand remains high. His company has already secured 10 bookings for December 31, and this number is expected to rise to 30 as the date nears. For those not opting for the high-end yachts, prices still see a significant surge. Regular yachts can be rented for around Dh65,000 for a journey spanning the transition from 2024 to 2025.
Captain Aakash Ghimire of Liberty Yachts noted that NYE rates can increase up to five times the usual price. He emphasized that customers are not surprised by the jump, as it’s widely expected. He also pointed out that booking a table at a restaurant near the Burj Khalifa for the fireworks can cost Dh4,000 per person, making the yacht option seem more economical for large groups.
Despite the sky-high rates, yacht rentals remain popular. Suku S, a sales manager, revealed that his company only has two yachts left available for booking, with around 800 yachts expected to set sail from Dubai Harbour on NYE. Among the early bookers is UAE resident Jamila M., who will celebrate with 70 guests aboard a yacht she booked months ago.
With safety a top priority, Dubai Police will station 33 rescue boats across the waterways to ensure the safety of partygoers.
