The Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC) has achieved high rankings in the GAR 100 Data Report, published by Global Arbitration Review (GAR)—the leading global authority on arbitration.
The report positions Dubai as the fifth most popular arbitration seat worldwide by case volume, surpassing 405 arbitration hubs, including New York and Geneva. Additionally, Dubai ranked ninth in total arbitration case value, outperforming major cities such as Seoul and Frankfurt.
DIAC itself was ranked tenth globally in arbitration activity based on the number of cases handled and ninth in case value, surpassing over 315 arbitration centres worldwide. Notably, Dubai and DIAC are the only arbitration seat and centre from the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia (MEASA) region to feature in the global top 10.
Jehad Kazim, Executive Director of DIAC, highlighted that these rankings reaffirm Dubai’s position as a trusted global arbitration hub and directly support the Dubai Economic Agenda D33. She emphasized that DIAC operates under the strategic vision of H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, aligning with the leadership’s goal of making DIAC one of the top five arbitration centres worldwide.
With over 5,000 cases valued at more than AED100 billion handled over the past three decades, DIAC has built a strong reputation for its legal framework, reliable enforcement mechanisms, and ability to resolve high-value disputes efficiently. Since 2022, DIAC has introduced new arbitration rules, a restructured arbitration court, and an expanded board of directors, enhancing its capacity to deliver fair and effective dispute resolution.
The GAR 100 Data Report is a comprehensive analysis of 11,200 arbitration cases from 2015 to 2023, providing key insights into case volumes, institutional performance, and global arbitration trends. DIAC’s recognition in this report underscores Dubai’s growing influence as a leading centre for international arbitration.
