Dubai’s General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) participated in the RSO 2025 Forum on Border Management Priorities and Challenges, held in Bangkok, Thailand, in January 2025.
The event brought together government representatives and international organizations specializing in border security and port management.
During the forum, the GDRFA Dubai delegation highlighted cutting-edge technologies employed at passport control checkpoints, addressing challenges in border screening and presenting innovative solutions to enhance security, efficiency, and societal resilience in managing cross-border movements. Key discussions revolved around digital transformation, biometric data utilization, and advanced inspection and verification systems aimed at strengthening security readiness and adapting to global trends.
Representing GDRFA Dubai, Major Hashem Abdulrazzaq Al Hashimi, Head of Technical Development and Improvement at the Future Ports Administration, and Captain Abdullah Ali Al Kamali, Head of Support Services at the Smart Command and Control Center, delivered detailed presentations. They emphasized the integration of advanced screening systems at Dubai Airports and the significance of technology-driven solutions in reinforcing institutional resilience and ensuring reliable border operations.
Major General Talal Ahmed Al Shnqeeti, Assistant Director for Air Ports Affairs Sector, underscored Dubai’s commitment to global security collaboration, stating,
“Our participation underscores the commitment of Dubai’s General Directorate of Identity and Citizenship to enhancing its international presence and sharing its outstanding practices in security forums. We continue to leverage global best practices to advance border management in line with the highest standards.”
