Dubai’s Parkin and Majid Al Futtaim to introduce paid parking at UAE malls Starting January 2025
Starting January 1, 2025, a new paid parking system will be implemented at three of Dubai's most popular malls: Mall of the Emirates (MoE), City Centre Deira, and City Centre Mirdif.
The initiative, announced on Wednesday, is a collaboration between Parkin Company, Dubai's primary public parking operator, and Majid Al Futtaim (MAF) Properties.
Under a five-year contract, the parking fees at these malls will remain unchanged. The new 'barrierless parking' system will enhance the parking experience for visitors by eliminating the need to stop at barriers. Advanced cameras will capture license plates automatically, tracking each vehicle's entry and duration of stay.
As drivers enter the parking facilities, they will receive an SMS or notification about the applicable parking costs through the Parkin app. Payment can be made via the app or the Parkin website, streamlining the entire process. This system is expected to improve access for over 20 million vehicles annually, across a total of 21,000 parking spaces.
“Our smart systems will reduce congestion and enable smooth traffic flow, enhancing the overall customer experience at some of the busiest retail locations in Dubai,"
stated Mohamed Abdulla Al Ali, CEO of Parkin.
Parkin, a public joint stock company listed on the Dubai Financial Market, aims to expand its services to privately owned developments, including shopping malls and airports. While this new system will significantly advance parking management, a similar barrierless parking system is already operational at Dubai Mall, managed by Salik, where parking fees are automatically deducted from user accounts.
