Ducab Group Launches ‘Ducab Plants for Progress’ Initiative to Support UAE’s Sustainability Goals
Ducab Group has launched the ‘Ducab Plants for Progress’ initiative in collaboration with the Emirates Environmental Group (EEG), reinforcing its commitment to environmental conservation.
The initiative aligns with the UAE's "Plant the Emirates" National Programme, which was introduced by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum as part of the ‘Year of Sustainability’.
The aim of the initiative is to promote sustainable agricultural practices, enhance green spaces, and support the country’s agricultural sector. Ducab will plant 1,000 native trees—Ghaf, Samar, and Sidra—across its facilities, with each tree absorbing approximately 22 tonnes of carbon annually. The planting effort underscores Ducab's dedication to reducing carbon emissions and supporting the UAE Energy Strategy 2050 and the UAE Net Zero 2050 Strategic Initiative.
The initiative was launched in the presence of key figures, including Alia Abdul Rahim Al Harmoudi, Assistant Under-Secretary for Sustainable Communities at MOCCAE, and Mohammad Almutawa, Group CEO of Ducab. Al Harmoudi emphasized the importance of private sector involvement in advancing sustainability efforts, while Almutawa highlighted the initiative as a tangible contribution to the UAE’s environmental objectives.
Habiba Al Mar’ashi, Co-Founder of EEG, noted that the initiative is a significant step towards achieving the UAE’s sustainability goals, fostering collective responsibility for environmental preservation.
As part of the initiative, Ducab and EEG will sign an MoU to establish a framework for future sustainability projects. The ‘Ducab Plants for Progress’ initiative reinforces Ducab’s role in shaping a sustainable future, supporting the nation’s efforts to combat desertification and strengthen its green legacy.
