Guangzhou OED Technologies Inc, in collaboration with Fuzhou Sifei Information Technology Co Ltd, jointly unveiled the world's thinnest electronic price tag.

The electronic price tag, which is 6.3 millimetres thick, is capable of maintaining a display or changing the image without battery supply, according to Chen Yu, general manager of Guangzhou OED Technologies.

Chen said,

"Due to the reconstruction of data transmission and modification channels, the e-price tag has no requirement that an electronic shelf label must correspond to a control component, which helps greatly reduce the cost compared with existing facilities."

The e-price tag will be mostly used in the new retail price label field, which has witnessed a booming development in China in recent years, according to Chen.

Chen also added,

"It is more environmentally friendly and recyclable, and it has a lower cost."

"It is especially suitable for new retailers."

Electronic paper, a new type of low-carbon, green and environmentally-friendly nano display material, does not emit light by itself and relies on natural light reflection.

The Guangzhou-based company, established in 2008, has set up a joint company with Fuzhou Sifei Information Technology Co Ltd to develop and promote the electronic price tag and another new series of display products.
