e& UAE has unveiled a game-changing initiative in telecom infrastructure management with the launch of its autonomous drone-based cell tower inspection system, powered by artificial intelligence.

This cutting-edge solution combines real-time data analytics, AI and autonomous flight technology to deliver faster, safer, and more sustainable tower inspections across the UAE.

Controlled remotely from a dedicated Drones Operations Centre, each drone flight is monitored by expert teams to ensure compliance with safety protocols and inspection accuracy. Unlike traditional manual inspections, these drones can navigate complex environments autonomously, significantly improving worker safety and operational efficiency.

The drones’ AI-driven analytics instantly detect structural anomalies, enabling preventive maintenance that helps avoid costly disruptions and extends the life of critical assets. They also support remote monitoring of safety compliance and detect unauthorised activity, reinforcing network security.

Beyond routine inspections, the drones also aid emergency response efforts by delivering connectivity and support to hard-to-reach areas during critical times.

Each mission generates actionable data that feeds directly into e& UAE’s digital infrastructure systems, supporting predictive maintenance and optimised asset management—all while reducing the environmental impact of conventional inspection methods.

Marwan bin Shakar, Acting Chief Technology & Information Officer at e& UAE, said,

“The integration of autonomous drones into our operations reflects our commitment to reimagining network operations through cutting-edge innovation that improves reliability, safety and sustainability.”

This initiative marks a major step forward in building a resilient, data-driven, and future-ready telecom infrastructure in line with the UAE’s vision for smart, sustainable cities.
