EGA and MBRSC Mark Landmark Launch of MBZ-SAT Satellite

Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) has celebrated a significant milestone with the successful launch of MBZ-SAT, the most advanced satellite in the region.

Developed by the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC), the satellite was built using EGA's innovative CelestiAL solar aluminium, marking a breakthrough in sustainable space technology.

EGA, a key partner in this achievement, supplied MBRSC with CelestiAL solar aluminium, produced in Jebel Ali. The metal was transformed into vital components for MBZ-SAT by a local EGA partner. This collaboration is a major achievement for the UAE's "Make it in the Emirates" initiative, supporting the nation’s Operation 300bn ambition and solidifying its leadership in space exploration.

Abdulnasser Bin Kalban, CEO of EGA, expressed pride in the partnership, highlighting the role of sustainable innovation in shaping the future of space technology and industrial development.

"EGA was the first company in the world to produce aluminium using solar power, significantly reducing emissions. We are proud that EGA’s solar aluminium is now heading to the stars,”

he said.

Salem Humaid AlMarri, Director-General of MBRSC, emphasized the significance of the launch for the UAE's technological and economic growth.

“The successful launch of MBZ-SAT demonstrates the UAE’s commitment to innovation and strategic collaborations. By integrating locally produced components, we enhance the capabilities of our space missions and reinforce the UAE’s position as a global hub for pioneering advancements,”

AlMarri stated.

The MBZ-SAT, named in honor of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, was launched from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. Equipped with advanced image-capturing technology, it is poised to deliver high-resolution, precise imagery for space missions worldwide.
