The eighth edition of the Air Traffic Control Forum, backed by Dubai Air Navigation Services (dans), will bring together global air navigation service providers and industry experts to explore the latest challenges and innovations in air traffic control.
The forum, held alongside the 24th edition of the Airport Show from May 6th to 8th at the Dubai World Trade Centre, is under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority.
The event will feature cutting-edge communication, navigation, and surveillance systems, essential for safe and efficient airspace management. Discussions will focus on modernizing air traffic management systems, with the Middle East's aviation market projected to reach US$33.7 billion by 2029. Airport investments are forecasted at US$151 billion, and aircraft investments will hit US$2.4 billion.
Ibrahim Al Ahli, Acting CEO of dans, emphasized the importance of adopting new systems and technologies to optimize airspace usage. He highlighted the relentless pursuit of excellence in maintaining Dubai's position as a global aviation hub with unmatched connectivity.
The event also underscores the growing role of technology in transforming air traffic control. May Ismail, Event Manager at RX, explained that innovations like AI and satellite-based navigation are reshaping air traffic management. However, challenges such as high deployment costs, system complexity, and cybersecurity remain pivotal issues for the sector.
With the Middle East expecting significant growth in passenger traffic and aircraft deliveries, the forum is set to explore solutions that will meet the evolving demands of airspace management in the region.
