Emirates and Air Canada have announced the extension and expansion of their strategic partnership, set to continue until 2032.
The move builds on a successful three-year collaboration that has served over 550,000 passengers and linked 56 codeshare routes across Canada, the U.S., Dubai, and key global destinations.
The renewed agreement will deepen cooperation across passenger and cargo services, offering enhanced connectivity, seamless travel experiences, and potential new gateways within Canada. Both airlines also plan to explore a joint cargo venture to facilitate efficient global commodity movement.
Since the partnership began in 2022, Air Canada relocated its Dubai operations to Terminal 3, providing passengers access to Emirates’ Business Class lounges and hub facilities. Frequent flyer members benefit from reciprocal loyalty programs, with plans to expand redemptions to Premium Economy cabins. Daily Dreamliner and A380 services connect Toronto and Dubai, alongside additional flights between Dubai and Montréal.
Executives from both airlines highlighted the broader economic benefits. Air Canada noted the partnership strengthens international connectivity for Canadian travellers and supports trade with the Middle East, Indian subcontinent, and Southeast Asia. Emirates emphasized the role of air links in boosting passenger convenience and trade flows.
Enhanced air connectivity has already contributed to a 14 per cent growth in Canada-UAE trade between 2022 and 2023, with Canadian exports reaching CAD $3.3 billion in 2024. Cargo shipments via Emirates increased 37 per cent year-over-year, underlining the partnership’s role in facilitating commerce and tourism.
With this extension, Emirates and Air Canada aim to expand passenger choice, improve operational coordination, and reinforce their positions as leading global carriers, strengthening links between Canada, the UAE, and beyond.
