Emirates Celebrates Return to Edinburgh with Daily Flights Boosting Tourism and Trade

Emirates, the world’s largest international airline, has made its triumphant return to Edinburgh for the first time since 2020, marking a significant milestone for the Scottish capital.

The airline’s Boeing 777 was greeted with a spectacular display by the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, thrilling passengers upon arrival.

Edinburgh is now Emirates’ eighth UK destination, with daily flights complementing the existing A380 service to Glasgow, providing a total of 14 weekly flights to Scotland.

Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, emphasized the importance of the UK market, stating,

“We’re proud to reinstate our footprint in Scotland, loved by visitors worldwide.”

Passengers can expect an elevated travel experience, with connections to popular destinations like Thailand, Australia, and Dubai.

The return of Emirates is set to bolster tourism in Scotland, which welcomed 4 million international visitors in 2023, contributing £3.59 billion to the economy. Gordon Dewar, Chief Executive of Edinburgh Airport, noted the significance of direct connectivity to Dubai for both business and leisure travelers.

In addition to passenger benefits, the daily flight enhances cargo capacity, allowing Emirates SkyCargo to transport 16 tonnes of cargo per flight, facilitating trade for local industries, particularly high-value goods like salmon and whisky.

Emirates operates 133 weekly flights across the UK, providing passengers with gourmet meals, premium beverages, and a vast inflight entertainment selection. With its return to Edinburgh, Emirates continues its award-winning streak, recently named the ‘World’s Best Airline’ by Telegraph Travel.
