Emirates Drug Establishment Confirms UAE Medicine Stockpile Remains Secure

The Emirates Drug Establishment has confirmed that the UAE’s strategic stockpile of medicines and medical supplies is secure and sufficient, reinforcing confidence in the country’s ability to meet domestic demand amid global supply pressures.

Director-General Fatima Al Kaabi conducted field visits to pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities across the country to assess production capacity, technological capabilities, and future expansion plans. The visits form part of a broader strategy to strengthen the resilience and sustainability of the UAE’s pharmaceutical ecosystem.

During the inspections, factory officials outlined advancements in manufacturing technologies and adherence to international quality and safety standards. Al Kaabi highlighted the growing role of local manufacturers in stabilising the national medicines market and safeguarding supply chains.

She stated that the UAE’s pharmaceutical sector is well-prepared to respond to regional and global developments, supported by robust regulatory frameworks and continued investment in local production capabilities.

Companies including Medisal Pharma and ADCAN Pharma reiterated their commitment to maintaining consistent supply levels. Industry leaders emphasised that domestic manufacturing is critical in mitigating global supply disruptions and ensuring uninterrupted access to essential medicines.

The Emirates Drug Establishment said it will continue enhancing regulatory systems and fostering collaboration with industry players to support research, innovation, and long-term sector growth.

The initiative underscores the UAE’s efforts to build a resilient healthcare infrastructure and strengthen its position as a regional hub for pharmaceuticals and medical innovation.
