Dubai reaffirmed its global role in advancing sustainability as the Emirates Energy Award honoured 33 winners from 24 countries during the World Green Economy Summit.
The recognition underscored the UAE’s drive to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 through innovation and international collaboration.
Ahmad Buti Al Muhairbi, Secretary-General of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, said the award reflects the leadership’s vision for a green economy and the country’s strategic focus on renewable energy. More than 250 projects competed in the fifth edition, with entries spanning regions well beyond the Middle East, including the United States, Europe, Central Asia, and Asia.
Al Muhairbi noted that this diversity highlights the global stature of the award in promoting clean energy practices. He added that the UAE’s solar capacity has already reached around 20 gigawatts, a milestone in its transition towards sustainable energy.
Looking ahead, the council plans to expand its projects and continue positioning the Emirates Energy Award as a platform that encourages innovation and strengthens global efforts in combating climate change.
Al Muhairbi stressed that the UAE, working closely with international partners, remains committed to mitigating the impacts of climate change and driving progress towards a sustainable future.
