Emirates Expands African Network with Increased Flights to Key Destinations

Emirates, the world's largest international airline, is enhancing its operations in Africa with additional flights to Entebbe, Uganda; Addis Ababa, Ethiopia; and Johannesburg, South Africa.

This expansion follows the airline's inaugural flight to Cairo in 1986 and now marks Emirates’ service to 20 passenger and cargo gateways across the continent.

Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, emphasized Africa's importance to the airline's strategic growth.

"We will deepen our focus on expansion and investment on the continent, using Dubai as a gateway to emerging economies across Asia and the Middle East,"

he stated.

Effective October 27, Emirates increased its flights to Entebbe from five to daily, adding 718 seats weekly. Passengers can enjoy luxurious amenities, including First Class service—unique among airlines serving Entebbe. Additionally, starting January 1, 2025, the airline will offer daily flights to Addis Ababa, further facilitating travel to one of Africa’s rapidly growing tourist destinations.

On March 1, 2025, a fourth daily flight to Johannesburg will restore operations to pre-pandemic levels, bringing the total to 49 weekly flights to South Africa. Once these frequencies are in place, Emirates will operate 161 weekly flights between its African destinations and Dubai.

With a robust network covering 17 African countries and partnerships enhancing connectivity to over 210 regional points, Emirates is committed to supporting the continent's aviation and tourism sectors. The airline's cargo arm, Emirates SkyCargo, will also benefit from increased passenger flights, ensuring efficient global goods movement.
