Emirates has invested AED 85 million to install more than 200 biometric cameras across Terminal 3 at Dubai International Airport, enhancing the passenger journey with faster, contactless travel through facial recognition.
The new system, developed in collaboration with the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigner Affairs Dubai (GDRFAD), allows travelers to move through check-in, immigration, boarding, and lounges without presenting a passport or boarding pass. Once registered through the Emirates app or at the airport, customers can use facial recognition to pass through dedicated biometric zones seamlessly.
Adel Al Redha, Emirates Deputy President and Chief Operating Officer, said the initiative reflects the airline’s commitment to innovation and efficiency.
“With our latest Biometrics Path development, Emirates has invested in further innovations to enhance the customer travel experience, providing remarkable speed, efficiency, and accuracy at Terminal 3,”
he noted.
Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of GDRFAD, said the partnership embodies Dubai’s focus on smart, secure, and intuitive travel.
“Together, we are shaping a seamless travel experience that reflects the UAE’s reputation for efficiency, hospitality, and digital governance,”
he said.
Both UAE residents and visitors can register for the service via the Emirates app, at self-service kiosks, or at check-in desks. Once enrolled, travelers can check in, clear immigration, access lounges, and board flights using only facial recognition, significantly reducing wait times and simplifying airport procedures.
The rollout of the biometric system marks another milestone in Dubai’s efforts to offer a world-class travel experience supported by cutting-edge technology.
