Emirates has placed a firm order for five additional Boeing 777 freighters, with deliveries scheduled between 2025 and 2026.
This brings the airline's total pending Boeing 777F deliveries to 14 by the end of 2026. In tandem, Emirates has extended the lease for four existing Boeing 777Fs in partnership with Dubai Aerospace Enterprise.
By December 2026, Emirates SkyCargo is expected to operate 21 Boeing 777 freighters, significantly increasing its current fleet of 11 units. The airline is also converting 10 Boeing 777-300ER passenger aircraft into freighters to further boost capacity.
H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and CEO of Emirates Airline and Group, stated,
“We’re investing in new freighter aircraft to meet surging demand and provide our customers worldwide with more flexibility, connectivity, and options.”
This move highlights Dubai's growing status as a global logistics hub and Emirates SkyCargo’s ability to cater to various industries with bespoke cargo solutions. Emirates continues to rely on its extensive passenger fleet of 777s, A350s, and A380s to ensure efficient global cargo operations.
Meanwhile, Dubai’s Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) is undergoing expansion to become the world's largest cargo hub, with a capacity to process 12 million tonnes annually, further supporting the growth of Emirates SkyCargo and the region’s logistics sector.
Emirates is also evaluating future fleet options, with the Boeing 777-8F and Airbus A350-1000F among the candidates for delivery beyond 2028.
